Arrival
Cochin airport. Meeting and Greeting at the airport. Transfer to Hotel.
Kochi (colonial name Cochin) is a vibrant city situated on the south-west
coast of the Indian peninsula in the breathtakingly scenic and prosperous
state of Kerala, hailed as 'God's Own Country'. Cochin is also referred to
as the Gateway to Kerala. Afternoon city tour of Cochin visiting Jewish
Synagogue at Mattancherry - built in the year 1568, is magnificently
decorated by Chinese tiles and Belgian chandeliers, Dutch Palace - built by
the Portuguese in the middle of the 16th century. Also visit the spice
market, where the air is filled with the pungent smell of spices and history
that brought the world to its doorstep. Chinese fishing nets, (Cheenavala)
are distinctly unique to Cochin. It is believed that traders from the court
of the Chinese ruler Kublai Khan introduced these nets here. Evening witness
a Kathakali Dance Show. Overnight stay at Cochin Hotel.
» Day 02 : Cochin / Alleppey
Drive to Alleppey, also known as Alappuzha (which is 65 kms and 1.30 hrs
drive), a town in Kerala with picturesque canals, backwaters and lagoons. If
described as the Venice of the East. On arrival, Check into a houseboat and
go on a leisurely backwater cruise along the lake on a thatched houseboat.
The houseboat with all modern comforts in which one can disscover the
countryside at his own pace. Relish your meals ( lunch, dinner and
breakfast) in the houseboat. A ride on the houseboat is a fabulous way to
explore the fascinating beauty of the backwaters.. Overnight Houseboat ( _ /

» Day 03 : Alleppey / Kumarakom

Morning
after breakfast disembark the houseboat while cruising, leave for Kumarakom
known for backwaters, huge Vembanad Lake & the famous Kumarakom Bird
Sanctuary. Transfer to hotel. Afternoon visit Kumarakom Bird sanctuary. This
sanctuary is rich with a number of noteworthy species include the Dater or
Snake Bird, Little Cormorant, Night Heroin, Golden- backed woodpecker, Crow
Pheasant, White Breasted Water Hen and Tree Pie etc. Overnight in Kumarakom.

» Day 04 : Kumarakom / Periyar
Drive from Kumarakom to Periyar (130 kms 04 hrs drive). On arrival check in
at hotel. Afternoon visit Periyar wildlife sanctuary - home to nomadic
tribes of wild elephant, boar, deer, the great Indian tiger and more. In the
evening visit the spice plantation and the spice markets. Overnight in

» Day 05 : Periyar / Cochin / Onward Destination
Proceed to Cochin (170 kms / 05 hrs drive). On arrival, transfer to airport
or railway station to the timings of flight/train. (B / _/_)
