Leh Trekking Tour

Day 01 : New Delhi - Leh by air
Jallianwala BaghEarly this morning after a quick cup of tea/coffee you will be taken to the airport for your flight to Leh. This one-hour flight from the Indian capital to Ladakh’s capital will be something that you might remember for the rest of your life. Assistance on arrival and transferred to hotel. There will be no activity on your first day of arrival as it is recommend for tourists to relax and undergo minimal exertion to enable them to get acclimatized to rarefied oxygen level in this high-altitude region ensconced in the high Himalayan plateau. Overnight at the Hotel.

Day 02 : Leh - Introductory tour
Morning a guided tour through the ancient bazaar and alleys of Leh town, after that return to the hotel for lunch. After lunch at leisure, followed with a visit to Sankar monastery and then continue your drive to visit the Shanti stupa to witness the Japanese peace pagoda. Lunch in Leh Afternoon a shopping tours or return to the hotel Overnight at the Hotel.

Day 03 : Leh –- Tour of Thiksey, Hemis, Chemdrey and Taktok monastery
Today after early tea / coffee, drive to Thiksey monastery located situated on a hill-lock, which also houses a stucco statue of Maitreya Buddha, upon arrival we witness the monks gathered in the assembly hall for the morning prayer ceremony, which begins before sunrise at 0600hrs, you will hear the monks chant their prayers with the beats, after that you will have your packed breakfast, followed with a drive to visit Hemis monastery another 30 kilometers southwest of Thiksey; Hemis is the largest and the wealthiest monastery in Ladakh. Hemis festival is considered amongst the biggest and most famous of the monastic festivals, and is dedicated to Padmasambhava. Every 12 years, the gompa's means a (monastery) greatest treasures, a huge Thangka, is ritually exhibited. After that, drive towards the north, bifurcating the main highway to visit Chemdrey and Taktok monastery spectacularly on a hilltop. On your return, visit Thiksey monastery located situated on a hill-lock, which also houses a stucco statue of Maitreya Buddha. Then continue to drive back to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure or an optional walk towards the surrounding. Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 04 : Depart Leh to Uleytokpo camp via Basgo palace, Likir monastery, Alchi and Ridzong Nunnery
After breakfast, depart for Alchi, en route visit Basgo monastery, situated on hilltop along the Srinagar highway; you will pass through Spituk monastery, which will be visited on your return. Basgo monastery is among the endangered sites of World monument fund, built of mud brick and rammed earth, during the 16th and 17th century A.D. The fortress has three temples, erected in celebration of Great Maitreya (The fifth Buddha). The largest of all statues is the 14-meter high gilded earthen statue of the Maitreya Buddha, surrounded by murals depicting scenes from his life and portraits of the patrons who underwrote the construction of the temple complex. After that, continue your drive to visit Likir monastery followed with the drive to Alchi and visit the world’s famous monastery built in the 11th century. Alchi monastery is very different from the rest as it has a fusion of Tibetan and Kashmiri Art.

Later drive to Uleytokpo Camp for Lunch, afternoon at leisure, late in the afternoon drive to visit Ridzong Nunnery; the only nunnery in Ladakh also known as Chomoling, after that drive uphill to visit Ridzong monastery beautifully situated in a gorge. Then return to your camp. Overnight at the Uleytokpo camp.

Trek Commences :

Day 05 : Uleytokpo to Lamayuru to Wanlah Village (3250 meters)- Average walking time 3 ½ - 4 hours
After early breakfast, drive on Srinagar-Leh highway and then continue to drive to Lamayuru. Upon arrival, visit the Lamayuru Monastery followed by a brief visit to Lamayuru village situated on a foot of the Monastery.

Lamayuru Monastery, founded in 11th century perched on a spur high above the valley bottom just off the main road, it is one of the most spectacularly picturesque monastery in central Ladakh and is believed to be the oldest in central Ladakh and to have been the holy place of the Bon-chos the advent of Buddhism. After exploring the Lamayuru Monastery, drive to meet with our team along with the pony men in order to begin your trek to Wanlah village is easy following the trail leading down the valley for about 2 kilometers before diverting up the ridge to the East, which leads to Prinkit La (3750 meters) (La -means pass in local language), the ascend is gradual and should not take more then an hour to reach the pass from Lamayuru village. After walking for few kilometers, reach the Shilakong valley and it is further 2-3 kilometers to Wanlah village. On reaching Wanlah, establish our camp just to the North of Wanlah River, after establishing your camp visit the Wanlah monastery and explore the surrounding village. Overnight at Wanlah in Tented camp

Day 06 : Trek Wanlah - Hinju Village (3720 meters) - Average walking time 4-5 hours
Today you will begin by crossing the main bridge and following the bank of River. The trek follows through the main road crossing many small hamlets and villages before you finally arrive to Panji la village (3410 meters) is at the threshold of Hinju Valley passing through apricot orchards continue our trek with a brief halt at the region’s lone educational institute, a primary school before arriving at Hinju village. Hinju is a well-established village situated in a gorge with very few inhabitants or families and the village is divided into three parts - lower, main and upper Hinju village. Continue further crossing the village area to set our camp at the base of Konze la, a 4,950 meters pass. Overnight at the base of Konze-la in Tented camp

Day 07 : Trek Konze La base - Sumdo Chinmo Dok (3650 meters) Via Konze La (4950 meters) - Average walking time 6-7 hour
ManaliThe trek will begin early morning will a steady ascend towards Konze La pass cruising through upper Hinju village. The ascend to the top of the Kongski La is about three to three and half-hours. Although it is strenuous walk up to the Konze la pass, but on reaching the summit you are rewarded with a spectacular view of two different sides on the valley of the Ladakh and Karakoram ranges in the north and Stok ranges in the east. After a brief halt at the Kongski La top continue the steep descend towards the valley, crossing the hoards of yaks grazing in the green pasture at that time of the year. After the descend, continue to walk along the stream and establish our camp along the banks of the stream. Overnight at Sumdo Chinmo grazing point in Tented camp.

Day 08 : Trek Sumdo Chinmo - Base of Dung Dungchan La (4400 meters) - Average walking time 4-5 hours
The trek will begin with a steady walk along the river side passing through Sumda Chinmo village, where you get to see the remote village lifestyle and the traditional architecture of a Ladakhi built houses and a primitive method of agriculture, further continue with a ascend passing through a profusion of Edelweiss and other wild flowers, after passing through the village, descend to the valley, which also bifurcates towards Alchi, and then crossing the stream, continue to ascend up to a Sumda pass, taking us approximately one hour twenty minutes, you are then rewarded with a spectacular view of the Konze la towards the west and of Dung Dung chen la to your East, then further continue on a narrow path overlooking the gorge for another thirty minutes to reach the Base of Dung Dung chen la base, to establish our campsite. We establish our camp at the meadows and visit to interact with the yak headers and understand the way of life. Overnight at Base of Dung Dung La in Tented camp.

Day 09 : Trek Dung Dungchan La Base - Chilling Village (3550 meters) via Dung Dungchan La (4820 meters) - Average walking time 6-7 hours
The trek will begin early as the trail passes through Yak herders before zigzagging across scree slopes to the pass on our way you get a view of Konze La and the Ladakh range, on reaching the top of the pass you will get a spectacular view of the East to Stok ranges- North to Ladakh ranges and South to the mighty Zanskar ranges, after a brief halt at the pass the route contours around a high ridge before commencing a long and gradual descent towards Chilling village. On reaching Chilling village, you are met by our vehicle, in order to embark and return to Leh.

Day 10 : Leh to Oracle Lady to Saboo village
After early breakfast, drive to have an audience with the Oracle Lady, who is considered to have a healing power and speaks out the future. (Please note that this will be performed with suiting her dates and availability). Then drive to Saboo village to Saboo village, ten minutes drive from Oracle Lady situated on the old caravan route to Nubra Valley. On arriving Saboo village you will be traditionally welcomed by the family members to have lunch with them in traditional Kitchen after Lunch you will be taken on an introductory tour of Saboo village on foot. After the tour drive back to Leh, rest of the day at leisure or an optional stroll to the market. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 11 : Leh - New Delhi by air
Today you will be woken up early in the morning, after a hot cup of tea / coffee you will be driven to the airport to connect your flight to New Delhi, this will be your last opportunity catch the spectacular view of the Himalayan ranges.
